A Tea Ceremony at The Villa

We host many weddings where the bride and groom is from out of town.  So for the typical Vietnamese and Chinese tea ceremony, where is the couple to host it?  The new trend is actually to have the tea ceremony at the reception location.  This way you know that it is close by as well as it will be organized.  Everything will be setup and ready to go rather than trying to organize everything out of state.  This video features the couples tea ceremony here at The Villa in the Pre-Function Space.

09.05.2009 Mr. and Mrs. Mindy and Dan Le

A week has flown by so quickly since Mindy Vo and Dan Le wedding reception on Saturday, September 5, 2009.  I started working with Mindy and Dan probably just two months prior to their event.  They were very organized, open to opinions and of course great to work with.  Naturally the theme for their event was pink and chocolate, which I think are the best colors suited for The Villa.  They wanted their decor very different from any other receptions held here in the past, but at the same time, they wanted something very elegant and classic.

Their registration table and picture area was placed in the outdoor patio.  The weather was nice and warm that day so the outdoor prefunction space was the perfect setting.

The linens for the cocktail tables were upgraded to a fuchsia satin.  It was a great splash of color for the surrounding garden area.  They also had a privacy gate back drop to block off the traffic on Beach Boulevard.

The guest then entered into a private pre-function area where they were able to enjoy cocktails from the bar.  When it was time the curtains were then open for the guest to enter the main ballroom.

Many specific details were done to create this overall look for the ballroom.  From the dance floor to the crystal accents it all came together very nicely.

We placed a chocolate satin back drop to cover the main wall.  It made the room look grand and much larger than normal.  With the back drop being chocolate it had a great contrast with the pink silk linens and the ivory silk sash on the chairs.

The ceiling treatment was my favorite part of the decor.  The ceiling was designed specifically for the bride and groom.  It had the crystal accent draping with the chiffon fabric.  Down the center of the treatment was crystal strands to make a faux crystal chandelier.  The pink area light projecting across the room made the crystal sparkle in pink all night long.

The cake table was setup on a stage directly behind the head table.  The head table was setup with a sweetheart table separated in the center with the bridesmaid and groomsman sitting on each side of them on a regular rectangular table.  The sweetheart table was distinguished by the linen overlay of the chocolate and ivory satin.

They kept with the standard centerpiece, but upgraded the vase to a 10″ cylinder vase.  The vase kept a modern look that fitted into the overall image of the room.

Below are additional photos of the event for you to enjoy.  I had a great time working with Mindy and Dan.  Congratulations to the newlyweds!

Mr. and Mrs. Anna and Jason Phung – 08.22.2009

Anna and Jason are one of the sweetest couple that I had the pleasure to work with.  Anna is so sweet and caring of others and Jason, although I only met him a mere one or two times prior to the event, I notice once you get to know him he is not only so kind but he also has a goofy side to him.

Anna and Jason are a very simple couple, so we kept all the decor very understated, but classic.  Her wedding colors were champagnes, ivories, sage greens, and soft yellows.  Trying to tie in their Chinese heritage you will notice a splash of crimson detail throughout the wedding.

With the great California weather, guest enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the outside patio.  Guest then entered the room to a soft and romantic decor perfectly fitted to the couple.  A close friend entertained guest with great music and MCM Entertainment provided a Karoke system for their guest to enjoy.  The bride and her entourage then changed into a traditional Chinese gown to say thank you to all of their guest.  The bride then changed again into an evening gown to cut their cut.  The cake was not only beautiful, but it was also tasty, provided by The Great Dane Baking Company.  Two moments of the night that was just so classic: First, when it came to pop the champagne, the groom accidently squirted champagne straight into the bride’s face, but to make up for it he then splashed champagne in his face as well; Second, the groom crowd surfing during the garter toss.

A great party from beginning to end.  Congratulations to Anna and Jason.  I hope to see you guys soon!!!!  You guys are awesome!
