05.15.2010 Mia and Jones Wedding Reception

I have to say that Mia and Jones was one of the most hilarious and most interesting couple that I have worked with to date.  The couple was actually scheduled to work with another coordinator on site, but a few months prior to their reception I had the pleasure to take over their account.  Even though our relationship together was short term, our personalities clicked instantly.  They are one of those couples who seemed to enjoy the entire wedding process, but at the same time did not loose fact of what was most important, and that was uniting their love for one another.  My two most memorable moments with this couple was: #1 receiving late night (hysterical) emails from the bride and #2 Mia tearing up when she saw her reception and whispering to me “oh my gosh, its like platinum weddings, but not”.  I am so glad that I got to be a part of such a memorable wedding.  Attached are some pictures from Mia and Jones platinum wedding.

Lifetime’s Table Top Featured on Ceremony Magazine Cover

Lifetime had the pleasure to work with the Staff of Ceremony Magazine this past October 2009 to feature 4 table top ideas in their 2010 Magazines.  The Orange County June 2010 Edition just hit news stands and one of Lifetime featured table design, “The Blushing Bride”, is featured on the cover.  I was so ecstatic that this design was chosen because it had a special place in my heart.  The design came from a bridal gown that we had in our salon, hence the name “The Blushing Bride”.  The table linen derived from the skirt of the gown, the bodice was place to wrap the vases on the flowers, and the bustier was what wrapped the matching bridal bouquet.  Everything came together so well and we could not be happier.  To celebrate we decided to have a small gathering.  Everyone is welcome and I hope you can make it.

03.27.2010 Chau La and Kevin Nguyen Wedding Reception

I had such a great time working with Chau and Kevin this past Saturday.  Although I was not their original coordinator, our personalities matched pretty well and we got along right from the start.  Chau was a very hands on bride, which was fantastic.  All the small little details that she made for her votive candles to her tables numbers really showed off.  Of course I need to give credit where credit is due, and that is to Kevin.  He did help Chau with all the stuffing, gluing and inserting as well.  One thing for sure was that the couple did not look pass any small details for their event.  The menu selection was to perfection, the floral and decor upgrades they made set the tone of their event, the Photographer, Kim Le, captured great memories to last a lifetime, AlumiqProductions added the greatest same day edit slide show to the mix, their band, Live Rhythm set a great mood for the party from beginning to end, and Loi Tran from Pixel Photobooth just made the night more playful and relaxing.

Decor and Floral was provided by Lifetime Weddings & Events.

Below are pictures of the details from their event captured by Tai Tran from Tai Tran Photography.

10.17.09 Elizabeth Montalvo and Albert Aragon

I had the pleasure to work with such a wonderful couple, Elizabeth and Albert.  I still remember the first time they stepped through our doors one year ago.  Elizabeth envisioned a Mickey and Minnie Mouse themed event.  Of course, you must be thinking what I was thinking when she first told me that, oh my gosh really.  But the minor Disney related paraphernalia was tastefully done.   The theme color of the event was black, white and red.  I created a beautiful back drop for her made of black satin, but right behind the sweetheart table and head table I created stripes of white satin to add a grandiose look to the room.  The tables had our “Hollywood Collection” printed satin table linen with black chair covers.  Her centerpieces were my favorite detail of the room.  She kept with the standard flowers, but had upgraded the vase to create a modern feel.  She added black and white Mickey and Minnie figurines to each table and scattered red rose petals for a splash of color.

Elizabeth and Albert had a mariachi band entertain their guest during the cocktail hour in our outdoor patio space.  For the reception, she had a 18 member live band play mixed with a DJ spinning all the current top 40′s music.  They partied the night away until 1:00 am.  Congratulations to Elizabeth and Albert!  I am very grateful to be apart of such a special day.

A Tea Ceremony at The Villa

We host many weddings where the bride and groom is from out of town.  So for the typical Vietnamese and Chinese tea ceremony, where is the couple to host it?  The new trend is actually to have the tea ceremony at the reception location.  This way you know that it is close by as well as it will be organized.  Everything will be setup and ready to go rather than trying to organize everything out of state.  This video features the couples tea ceremony here at The Villa in the Pre-Function Space.

09.05.2009 Mr. and Mrs. Mindy and Dan Le

A week has flown by so quickly since Mindy Vo and Dan Le wedding reception on Saturday, September 5, 2009.  I started working with Mindy and Dan probably just two months prior to their event.  They were very organized, open to opinions and of course great to work with.  Naturally the theme for their event was pink and chocolate, which I think are the best colors suited for The Villa.  They wanted their decor very different from any other receptions held here in the past, but at the same time, they wanted something very elegant and classic.

Their registration table and picture area was placed in the outdoor patio.  The weather was nice and warm that day so the outdoor prefunction space was the perfect setting.

The linens for the cocktail tables were upgraded to a fuchsia satin.  It was a great splash of color for the surrounding garden area.  They also had a privacy gate back drop to block off the traffic on Beach Boulevard.

The guest then entered into a private pre-function area where they were able to enjoy cocktails from the bar.  When it was time the curtains were then open for the guest to enter the main ballroom.

Many specific details were done to create this overall look for the ballroom.  From the dance floor to the crystal accents it all came together very nicely.

We placed a chocolate satin back drop to cover the main wall.  It made the room look grand and much larger than normal.  With the back drop being chocolate it had a great contrast with the pink silk linens and the ivory silk sash on the chairs.

The ceiling treatment was my favorite part of the decor.  The ceiling was designed specifically for the bride and groom.  It had the crystal accent draping with the chiffon fabric.  Down the center of the treatment was crystal strands to make a faux crystal chandelier.  The pink area light projecting across the room made the crystal sparkle in pink all night long.

The cake table was setup on a stage directly behind the head table.  The head table was setup with a sweetheart table separated in the center with the bridesmaid and groomsman sitting on each side of them on a regular rectangular table.  The sweetheart table was distinguished by the linen overlay of the chocolate and ivory satin.

They kept with the standard centerpiece, but upgraded the vase to a 10″ cylinder vase.  The vase kept a modern look that fitted into the overall image of the room.

Below are additional photos of the event for you to enjoy.  I had a great time working with Mindy and Dan.  Congratulations to the newlyweds!

Mr. and Mrs. Anna and Jason Phung – 08.22.2009

Anna and Jason are one of the sweetest couple that I had the pleasure to work with.  Anna is so sweet and caring of others and Jason, although I only met him a mere one or two times prior to the event, I notice once you get to know him he is not only so kind but he also has a goofy side to him.

Anna and Jason are a very simple couple, so we kept all the decor very understated, but classic.  Her wedding colors were champagnes, ivories, sage greens, and soft yellows.  Trying to tie in their Chinese heritage you will notice a splash of crimson detail throughout the wedding.

With the great California weather, guest enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the outside patio.  Guest then entered the room to a soft and romantic decor perfectly fitted to the couple.  A close friend entertained guest with great music and MCM Entertainment provided a Karoke system for their guest to enjoy.  The bride and her entourage then changed into a traditional Chinese gown to say thank you to all of their guest.  The bride then changed again into an evening gown to cut their cut.  The cake was not only beautiful, but it was also tasty, provided by The Great Dane Baking Company.  Two moments of the night that was just so classic: First, when it came to pop the champagne, the groom accidently squirted champagne straight into the bride’s face, but to make up for it he then splashed champagne in his face as well; Second, the groom crowd surfing during the garter toss.

A great party from beginning to end.  Congratulations to Anna and Jason.  I hope to see you guys soon!!!!  You guys are awesome!

Votive Candles

Candles are such a small price to pay for such a prominent detail. Cudge.net is a great website to get low priced candles. I refer all my clients to this site. You can get a votive candle with a votive holder for an estimate of 0.50 cents each. And of course you can always find great coupons online to save a little extra money.
